Welcome to the Community of Frenchtown, MT
The Frenchtown Story: A Community, Not a Town About 15 minutes northwest of Missoula is Frenchtown, a community founded years ago by French Canadian settlers. Situated along the Clark Fork River in a valley called qua elth—meaning state of tranquility—by American Indians, Frenchtown is home to Frenchtown State Park, a five-acre spring-fed lake that's home to a variety of fish. The park is also a fantastic place for beginners to practice kayaking, canoeing and snorkeling.
